My Journey Into The Game Industry

In the Spring of 2019, as I sent in my deposit to major in Game Art and Animation at Champlain College, I was not planning on ever working in games.

Since I was about 12, I was completely sure that I would be working as an animator for some big film title at one of those big animation studios. Wanting to get my degree in animation while still going to a school that I could afford, I chose the Game Art and Animation program at Champlain College. Through years of experiencing a game studio-replicating program and developing student games year after year, the industry kind of grew on me and I began to stray from my initial goal of working at a film studio.

After experiencing both production and animation roles on these projects, I came to realize that my drive for organization and natural leadership on group projects were clues to me that becoming a Producer was my true calling.

Do I wish I realized it earlier? Yes.

Do I regret still pursing my degree in animation? Not in a million years.

Despite realizing that I wanted to pursue production after my Sophomore year, and securing a Game Production Internship at the start of my Junior year, I continued studying animation, and even began to minor in Game Writing. My creative background is something that remains extremally important to me, and I strive to be the Producer that I would want if I was a creative in that role.
